Abstract:
Using a hands-on interactive presentation, Mike will discuss the essential tool for Lean Transformation of Value Stream Mapping. A strategic tool designed to evaluate an organization’s effectiveness at responding to customer requirements. It provides a high-level perspective of process as it cuts across an organization, and surfaces the disconnects which reside within the delivery of value. Value Stream Mapping’s purpose is to provide an organization with the strategic direction for their tactical improvement activities.

Lean Construction Institute (LCI)
The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
The Los Angeles Area Community of Practice is being developed to provide local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors and suppliers who are doing business in the LA Area. We invite project delivery team members to meet together as a Community of Practice to learn, share and develop a lean community in the LA Area. For further assistance please contact lci-los-angeles@leanconstruction.org
